Polyphenols are a family of organic compounds abundant in plants and characterized by multiples of circular molecules called phenol groups. Polyphenols include flavonoids, tannic acid, and ellagitannin. Food sources of polyphenols are fruit and vegetables, olives, coffee, green tea, black tea, red wine, chocolate, and extra virgin olive oil.
